Times with grandma

I remember spending wuite a lot of time with my grandma as a child, both with my brother and cousin.

She used to take us for walks in Ashcombe Park, to watch the squirrels and sit in the bandstands, she called them our ‘houses’ which continues to this day when I walk through the park.

She would make us cooked lunches, which we’d eat in her kitchen so we could watch the birds out of the big window. She loved her garden andwas usually out there when we arrived at her house. She used to get us to help pick the green beans which we’d then have with our lunch.

She used to have a microwave which had a very jolly tune to show it was finished, we’d always have a laugh at that. Then after lunch she’d let us have a sponge finger from the massive tub she kept. Obviously to go in all the trifles she made!

Her bungalow was always filled with lots of ornamemts and photos which she would tell us about. Like the photo of our great grandma and her mum too. We used to love playing hide and seek as there were so many places to hide.

I also remember watching copious amounts of Countdown, as it was her favourite programme. She’d take an active part, coming up with long words and laughing along with Richard Whiteley (her favourite presenter!)

I’ll always fondly remember those days, and her laugh. She was an incredible person, who I’ll miss very much and think of often.
